NEW ERA

Matthew 3:1 IN THOSE days there appeared John the Baptist, preaching in the Wilderness (Desert) of Judea 2 And saying, Repent (think differently; change your mind, regretting your sins and changing your conduct), for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. AMP

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, crying out, Repent (change your mind for the better, heartily amend your ways, with abhorrence of your past sins), for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. AMP

    1. Repent - change your mind - for the better

    2. Regretting your sins - abhor you past sins

    3. Change your conduct - amend your ways

            • Mounce Greek Dictionary: to undergo a change in frame of mind and feeling; to repent; to make a change of principle and practice; to reform

Primary Reason for Needed Change

    1. The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand

    2. The Kingdom of Heaven has come near

    3. The Kingdom of Heaven is touchable

    4. God’s way of doing things is attainable

Philippians 3:12   Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. NKJV

    1. Paul was speaking to the Church at Philippi from a perspective of where he was going…not where he had arrived.

    2. Paul had a goal, a target, a mindset that was always forward.

    3. Paul said he forgot things that were behind.

Note: One of the hardest things for the Church and Christians to do is let go of the past and move toward the future. Move from what God “has done” to what God “is doing”.

Horizon

Romans 8:29   For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. KJV

    • Set a fixed point on the horizon

    • A place to move toward

Point of Demarcation

Acts 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. KJV

    • To be sent out from a point demarcatioN

Churches Attitude:

    • Always moving the horizon

    • Always looking for something more

    • Never feeling they have come to a point of demarcation

Colossians 1:19 For it has pleased [the Father] that all the divine fullness (the sum total of the divine perfection, powers, and attributes) should dwell in Him permanently. AMP

Colossians 2:9 For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature].  10 And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power]. AMP
